The Hansel and Gretle float in the Holidazzle Parade

Holidazzle Parade

Minnesotans sure love their cold-weather traditions. For 15 days a year since 1992, they've flooded the streets of downtown Minneapolis to watch dozens of sparkling floats glide along Nicollet Mall in 15-degree weather. The stouthearted can brave the cold and watch on the street, and warm up beforehand with a drink at Brit's, the Local or Barrio. Easily chilled? Stay warm in the "Hot Seats" heated tents at Peavey Plaza for $9 a seat (available online), or set up shop in a nearby skyway. --Jahna Peloquin

International Christmas Festival

Have a holly, jolly time with folk dance and music performances. Visitors can munch on ethnic foods and purchase items from a bake sale. There also will be displays and sales of folk art, gifts and crafts. --Melissa Walker
