Vilification Prom Night

Prom season is upon us, and improv comedy troupe Vilification Tennis is not missing the chance to capitalize on it. Their regular night at Bryant-Lake Bowl consists of performers engaging in a battle of unscripted insults -- the more taboo, the better. So for their prom-themed show, expect sordid memories of teen proms past and the chance to relive "one of the most demeaning parts of your youth," with musical accompaniment by "erotic comedy bluegrass" band Courtney McClean and the Dirty Curls. Come dressed to impress, or dig out your tackiest ruffled tuxedo or taffeta prom dress --anyone wearing formal attire will get a free souvenir photograph. -Jahna Peloquin

'The Hollow'

Agatha Christie strikes again with this whodunit. Nicholas Leeman and Rachel Finch are featured in the Theatre in the Round production of Christie's play about murder in the English countryside. The suspects are all assembled at the manor house and a Scotland Yard detective pokes into motives and secrets -- typically fun Christie. Wendy Resch Novak directs. -Graydon Royce

Bedlam's Ten Minute Play Festival

When Bedlam Theater's West Bank space was converted into a mosque in 2010, its programming was left without a permanent home base. But that hasn't stopped it from continuing to create experimental, innovative theater. Bedlam's latest phase has included a partnership with nearby Mixed Blood, where it will present its 11th annual Ten Minute Play Festival over five nights. From hot-button political issues (ballot amendments and Trayvon Martin) to downright silly subjects (a cat-human attraction), the dozen plays will feature Bedlam newcomers and veterans alike. -Jahna Peloquin
