Bar & restaurant deals 5/24: Slices of Uptown
MICHAEL RIETMULDER | Updated 8/17/2012
Uptown is a pizza lover's paradise. With saucy merchants peddling everything from greasy, over-cheesed artery cloggers to gourmet flatbreads, you'll have no trouble satiating your Sicilian cravings or deep-dish desires in the south Minneapolis quadrant. If it's a low-priced slice (and perhaps a drink or two) you're after, post up at one of these parlors.
Pizza Luce
These prolific pie-pushers aren't afraid to get a little crafty with their 'za. Tantalizing toppings and a by-the-slice approach make popping in for a nibble all too easy. Do so between 3 and 6 p.m. any day of the week and enjoy a slice and tap beer of your choice for only $5.
Old Chicago
Although the national-chain thing can be a turnoff, we've got to hand it to these thick-crusted kingpins for slinging meagerly priced pizzas at their 3-6 p.m. weekday happy hour. An 8-inch, one-topping pizza will set you back only two bucks, and all pints, well drinks and wines are $1 off. Still hungry? Add a couple of half-priced select apps to your order.
Green Mill
It's a widely known fact that the later the hour and the more drinks you've had, the better pizza tastes, and that's precisely why we love Green Mill's nightly late happy hour. Before knocking out $2 slices, coat your stomach with $2.50 domestic taps, rails and house wines from 10 p.m.-1 a.m. in the bar only.
