The Walker's Open Field re-opens Saturday

It's the return of Open Field, Walker Art Center's family-friendly outdoor lawn hangout. Described as a "cultural commons," the free and free-form event features community-sourced yoga, poetry, games and crafts. The Tool Shed lets you borrow books, hula hoops, art supplies and other relaxation instruments. Or, you can just vibe-out on a picnic blanket. It's also Free First Saturday, meaning no-cost gallery admission for kids from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with an Open Laboratory theme allowing youngsters to explore bugs, plants and other proto-scientist whathaveyous. Food-wise, it's the opening of the D'Amico Garden Grill; there's also a members-only BBQ at 5 p.m. (10 a.m. Sat. Through Sept. 1. Free. Walker Art Center, 1750 Hennepin Av. S., Mpls. 612-375-7600 or www. walkerart.org.)
