'Politico'

A longtime staple of the Twin Cities theater scene, Kevin Kling is perhaps best known for his lighthearted approach to provocative material. The National Public Radio commentator has often relied on his home state to spin tales, as in his groundbreaking works "21A" and "Fear and Loving in Minneapolis." With his latest work, "Politico," the playwright and performer goes national, coupling his dry wit with the ever-rich source of material we call the American political system. Centered around Kling's stories and accompanied by music inspired by old labor songs, the show promises to be as much a call to action as an entertaining love letter to democracy. (7:30 p.m. Fri., Sat., Mon., next Thu. & next Fri.; 4 p.m. Sun., next Sat. & next Sun. $20. Open Eye Figure Theatre, 506 E. 24th St., Mpls. 612-874-6338 or www.openeyetheatre.org.) JAHNA PELOQUIN
