THURSDAY

I Am MPLS!

The live music, fashion, art and comedy amalgam I Am MPLS! has a novel concept: Get local notables from various walks of life -- stylists, fashion designers, photographers, art curators, nurses and so on -- to act as models in a runway show. The personality-as-model twist is part of the unabashedly pro-local message behind the show, which aims to celebrate "who we are and what we do" as Minneapolitans. This year's event moves from the Fine Line to the Varsity, with live music from A. Wolf and Her Claws and Heatbox, comedians Nate Abshire and Ben San Del, and fashions from b. (a resale shop), Len, Midnorth Mercantile, Drama and Atmosfere. (8 p.m. Thu. $15-$50. 18 & older. Varsity Theater, 1308 SE. 4th St., Mpls. www.iammpls.com.) JAHNA PELOQUIN

SATURDAY

St. Paul Santa Crawl

The brains behind the Zombie Pub Crawl are betting that the public will enjoy bar-crawling dressed as Mr. Claus, Mrs. Claus and their ilk as much as they like covering themselves in fake blood and gore. St. Paul Santa Crawlers will hop aboard party buses decked out like Santa's sleigh and travel to the bars of Lowertown and beyond, including O'Gara's, the Liffey and the Amsterdam, which will all offer drink specials to wristband holders. Pose with live "reindeer," sing "carol-oke," decorate Christmas cookies, play Xmas-themed bingo and compete in costume contests for prizes. The grand prize: If you visit every bar, you're entered in a drawing to win free beer for a year. (5 p.m. Sat. $20. www.stpaulsantacrawl.com.) J.P.

SATURDAY-SUNDAY

How Bazaar

Recording studio (and sometime party space) Sound Gallery hosts a very different kind of craft fair this weekend. "How Bazaar" features goods from Sound Gallery friends and associates, including shoemaker Ina Grau's handmade slippers, T-shirts from Minnesota Vice and merch from Doomtree, "guerrilla" pastry-makers Dirty Donuts, jewelry from Three Fine Pieces (aka the Lady Parts DJs) and MinJo, art by Chuck U and concert photography by Erik Hess. But it wouldn't be a Sound Gallery event without music -- expect Fort Wilson Riot, Spyder Baybie Raw Dog and La Manchita plus DJ sets from Solid Gold, Lady Heat, Lady Parts, Maggie Morrison and others. Bonus: free PBR tallboys! (Noon-8 p.m. Sat. & Sun. Free. Sound Gallery, 414 3rd Av. N., third floor, Mpls.) J.P.
