I forgot about one of my biggest humbugs... Midtown Global Market is listed as one venue. There are over a dozen individual restaurants within, yet I can't write reviews for any of them!

As a follow-up to Christian's last post, our legal team has adjusted rule 4.d. of the "Are You Local?" contest this change should alleviate any concerns that may have prevented bands from entering.

Rule 4.d. of the official contest rules now reads:

"Each entrant, without expectation of compensation or acknowledgment (other than the prize, if any, that is awarded to entrant as set forth in these Official Rules) hereby grants to Sponsor (on behalf of Sponsor, its successors, assigns, licensees and designees) a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free and fully-transferable right and license to publish, republish, distribute and copy the song (in whole or in part) an unlimited number of times in any print, electronic or other medium in connection with the Contest and/or Sponsor?s products and services. Each entrant agrees that Sponsor and its successors, assigns, licensees and designees shall have the perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free and fully-transferable right (but not obligation) to use, modify, display, reproduce, make derivative works of, and otherwise exploit entrant's entry and submissions (or any part thereof and/or information or ideas contained therein) for any purposes related to the Contest and/or Sponsor?s products or services (including but not limited to any promotional purposes related to the Contest and/or Sponsor?s products or services) in any manner or media whether now or hereafter existing, all without further payment, consideration, attribution, notice or consent. Sponsor shall have no obligation to maintain any of the entries or submissions, or any information or ideas contained therein, as confidential or proprietary. Sponsor reserves the right to edit, modify, or abridge any such entry or submissions for any reason prior to use."

Bands, as a reminder, you still have until Wed., Feb. 17th to enter the contest.

Everyone else, give these bands a listen and vote for your favorites!

Just to clarify: The karma earned this month still works toward my overall total, right? I'm just ineligible to win anything.

That is correct.

I was thinking something more inappropriate, but sure; that works too.

Warning About Half Price Deals in the Strib

Just wanted to give a little heads up to those who might be considering swooping up one of those half price gift certificate deals in the Star Tribune. First of all, there's a hidden cost of around $3- not a big deal, but it's sneakily kept under wraps until purchase. More tricky is that you can only use each certificate once- hence, I found myself at Kabob's in Gavidae Commons with my $25 certificate and found that although the only option is the $5 lunch I was supposed to surrender the entire $25 certificate. Pretty ridiculous and a real kick in the butt for someone on a low income...not feeling so clever now. Thanks, Star Tribune!

I seem to remember a happy hour around this time last year....

Cabin fever has SO set in at the girlwonder residence.

I'll give that some though. A play date in a bad neighborhood with a drunken chimp, perhaps.

Just ten days left to submit your nominations for Hotness 2010!

Know somebody who's just the most amazing person you've ever met? Or maybe you're the one who's the total package? You can nominate yourself or a friend -- or yourself and a friend! -- as one of the HOTTEST people in the Twin Cities.

Winners and runners-up will be featured in our special Valentine's Day issue. In addition, one female and one male winner will each receive a $500 Mall of America gift card, a one-night stay at the Graves 601 Hotel in Minneapolis, $250 to reVamp! SalonSpa, a $100 gift certificate to OM Restaurant, and an unlimited annual spa pass at Planet Beach ($840 value). OM and reVamp! SalonSpa will also award gift certificates to each of our ten finalists -- $25 for OM and $50 for reVamp!

The contest rules are here, so be sure to check those out.

What are you waiting for? Get to nominating!

I think PeterHDK wants to wrestle me. I'm neither a hater nor an "arbiter of "meaningful" content". I'm just blunt and like shakin up you regular folks for fun :P

I want to find:

with the keyword:

The vita crew.

Margaret Andrews

The CSS genius behind this site and its semantic glory. She enjoys Blythe dolls, long walks on the beach, trash television, talking about herself in the 3rd person, and photography.

Leslie Plesser

Leslie is the art director for the print version of Vita.mn, which means she spends her days trying to make newsprint look as pretty as possible, while her nights are divided between First Avenue, trash television and Rock Band.

Tim Ikeman

Tim is the Vita.mn Product Manager, doing the work nobody else wants to do since 1963, err, 2006. He excels at having too many hobbies and seeking out cheap booze.

Christian-Philippe Quilici

Chris- tian is the Events and Promo Manager up in here. He speaks five languages fluently, comes from a small island in the middle of the sea and has a one-eyed wonder pug dog named Fannie Mae (he bailed her out, get it?). He is also an astronaut and a liar.

Developer ninjas

They walk at night and wield the katana. Trust us, you don't want to mess with them.
