Tour de Fat

A major to-do on the bicycling community’s social calendar, Tour de Fat is back. Hosted by bike-loving brewery New Belgium, the touring fest combines a bike parade and ride with entertainment, a dance contest and cold brews, set in Loring Park with proceeds benefiting local bike organizations. Live acts include Nashville rockers Those Darlins, contortionist juggler Scot Nery, “hilariously bad” vaudeville troupe the Honeymoon Cabaret, husband-wife yo-yo act Yo-Yo People and a story hour presented by The Moth. Apart from the parade and ride, the centerpiece of the event is the car-for-bike trade, which challenges one volunteer to live car-free for one year in exchange for a stipend to buy his or her own commuter bike. (Parade 11 a.m., festival noon-5 p.m. Sat. Free. Loring Park, Mpls. Jahna Peloquin
