“RuPaul’s Drag Race” is the perfect storm of reality TV tropes. Hosted by the iconic drag queen RuPaul, the Logo series takes the basic formula of “America’s Next Top Model,” adds a dash of “Project Runway” and classic game shows (their “Match Game”-inspired celebrity-impersonation challenge, “Snatch Game,” is a perennial favorite), and tosses in a gaggle of queens to “lip sync for their lives” for the chance to be crowned the next drag superstar. Drama, comedy and sheer entertainment have ensued for six seasons. Now some of the show’s best-loved characters are making their way across the country in a showgirl-style competition judged by “Drag Race” judge and RuPaul bestie Michelle Visage. The Minneapolis lineup is a doozy, headlined by real-life drag couple Sharon Needles (the glamorously spooky Season 4 winner) and Alaska Thunderfuck, plus the hilarious, controversial Willam, the Cher-emulating Detox, the stylish, Imelda Marcos-copping Manila Luzon and the campy Pandora Boxx. The show’s cult popularity led to a prompt sellout for Monday’s revue. (9 p.m. Mon. Sold out. 18-plus. Varsity Theater, 1308 SE. 4th St., Mpls. 612-604-0222.)
