The Crystal Ball

The long-running NYE party goes big for its 10th anniversary. They’ve upped the bar count to 25, added a fifth-floor VIP lounge and lined up homie Har Mar Superstar to headline. First Avenue’s New Year’s Eve Danceteria & Y2KML

You can’t go wrong with First Ave on New Year’s Eve, where the Get Cryphy DJ crew will bring its signature blend of high-energy rap bangers. Host Ian Rans, DJs PooLProoF and MC Cloud of Forever Young, Roy Freedom and DJ Smitty round out the Mainroom lineup. Dinner and drinks


The Eat Street restaurant and music venue offers a $100 package deal for a five-course feast with wine pairings and admittance to the late show starring electro-rockers Solid Gold and their DJ side project Year of the Horse. The Bachelor Farmer & Marvel Bar

The Nordic restaurant and its basement cocktail lair host a three-pronged party, starting with a 5-9 p.m. reception on the second floor with champagne, aperitifs and a string quartet from Musicians of the Minnesota Orchestra. If you can score a dinner reservation, the Bachelor Farmer is doing an $85 five-and-a-half-course menu with wine and cocktail pairings available. ‘SNL’ Legends at Mystic Lake

The casino caps a five-night, New York-themed celebration with two shows featuring “Saturday Night Live” stars Rob Schneider, Tim Meadows and Chris Kattan. The party spills onto the casino floor (where there’s no cover) with street performers and NYC-style street food, while turntable technician DJ Mad Mardigan spins from the Promenade Stage. Club lines and big-ticket dinners not your thing? For a sportier celebration, head to Buck Hill. The slopes are open until midnight, when 2014 is ushered in with a fireworks display. Get your romance on in downtown St. Paul, where Winterskate is open until 11 p.m. Sandwich your hand-holding ice skating session with a candlelit dinner and a glass of champagne at any nearby restaurant. ‘Bedlam & the Beast’

The experimental Bedlam Theater teams up with In the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theatre for a bash inspired by “Beauty and the Beast,” complete with papier mâché roses, pyrotechnics, pop-up puppetry and live music by the Brass Messengers. VIP ticketholders are invited to a Southern-style feast before the show (7 p.m., $100) that includes open bar and live performances, including a five-minute retelling of the Disney classic. ‘Baby New Year’s Time Traveler Diaper Party #3’
