Traditional English fare including Scotch eggs, bangers and mash, Cornish pasties, as well as salads, burgers and vegetarian dishes. Upper-level patio with outdoor dining and grass lawn for lawn bowling.
Step inside and you might as well be in Dublin. With its stamped tin ceiling and hand-carved wooden bar, it has the timeless look and charm of a traditional Irish pub. Serving corned beef sandwiches, corned beef dinner, shepherd's pie poached salmon and a grilled onion, mushroom and tomato boxty (potato pancake) as well as some less Gaelic specialties such as lobster-stuffed chicken and walleye almondine. The bar offers a selection of Irish whiskies, plus Harp and
Guinness on tap.

The Local offers an authentic Irish pub atmosphere, traditional Irish pub food and a beverage list that includes Guinness, Irish whiskies and scotches.
Perhaps the most creative menu you'll encounter at a bowling alley. The postage stamp-size kitchen cranks out an appealing range of snacks and full meals: grilled bison over field greens with a buttermilk-blue cheese dressing, a fantastic potato salad, salmon with tarragon pesto and basmati rice, a spicy pad Thai, an artisanal cheese plate with locally raised smoked trout, one of the city's best burgers (made with grass-fed Minnesota beef) and a justifiably popular carrot cake. Breakfast (scrambles, biscuits and gravy, omelets) is hugely popular, particularly on weekends. The beer and ale list is exceptional, as is the affordable, adventurous (particularly for a bowling alley) wine list.
At this laid-back coffeehouse, expect to find an ambitious live-music schedule (performed in an adjacent music room), a nicely retro setting and inexpensive fare that effortlessly swings from breakfast (burritos, oatmeal, waffles) to dinner (black-bean burger, smoked trout salad, aoili/three-cheese grilled sandwich). Beyond coffee, there's an impressive beer selection (including 24 tap choices, from Bell's Oberon Ale to Frostop root beer) and more than a dozen affordable wines by the glass.
The Dakota's bar, restaurant and peerless live-music venue all
work in well-rehearsed harmony. The food boasts the nuance, imagination and technical prowess of some of the city's top kitchens, but its tone is playfully approachable and full of surprises. At dnner, highlights include crostini with a glossy smoked trout rillette; fried oysters on a celery-root salad; curry-rubbed pork, roasted in an apple cider grilled lamb, and even plain-old roast chicken and wild rice. The wine list has a wide range of all-American choices.

Hopefully we've seen the last of the white stuff and Spring is officially upon us. That said, it's time to trade in your hot toddy for something a little more seasonally appropriate.

Open Mic Night is every Monday at 8p and you're pretty much guaranteed to have a good time. Make sure you come early because it normally fills up, try to get a seat that's not behind one of the 80,000 poles and you will be treated to what only can [...]
Every time I go in here, I have a why-didn't-I-think-of-this? moment. Relatively cheap beers (even their in-house brews are $3.50 for a 12 ouncer), decent bar food, and, of course, the games. Last time I went, the group I was with got really engrossed in an intense game of Jenga [...]
It's a testament to the strength of this great Irish bar that it not only remained tremendously successful in its original, off the beaten path location (where it is virtually the only establishment for blocks), but that it was the bar that launched Kieran Folliard's growing empire.
That all said, I'm [...]

Run, don't walk, and go sign up for this. It's amazing. It's every Friday night from 6:00-8:00pm and it's FREE. I've been on multiple brewery tours--Leinenkugels, Summit, etc-- and I think this was my favorite. First off, you get your beer samples before, and all throughout, the tour. [...]
