Ricky Rubio plays Connect Four with basketballs on Spanish TV

ACL-hampered Timerwolves guard is as cute as ever.

Wondering what Timberwolves point guard and Minnesota’s winter boyfriend Ricky Rubio has been up to during the offseason? Adorable things, adorably. What’d you expect?

In a newly posted clip from the Spanish TV talk show "El Hormiguero" (“The Anthill”), Rubio plays a scaled-up version of Connect Four using basketballs and hoops. As a pair of terrifying, dancing ant puppets look on (you guys see those too, right? It's not just me?), Rubio squares off against the goofball host, who looks like the long lost and hugely underfed Gasol brother.

In appearance and disposition, Rubio is easily the most boyish star in a sport that celebrates IN-YO-FACE manliness, so it should come as no surprise that the Spanish sensación takes well to a child’s game. The good news for Timberwolves fans is that Rubio makes each of his five shots. The bad news for Rubio’s career as a Connect Four player is, dude, you totally could have won in four shots if you played it right.

Somewhere in Ohio, LeBron James and Kevin Durant are trying to kill each other in their second annual “Hell Week” training session. Let them sweat. Rubio looks light as a feather, relaxed and playful. That’s how he was when we found him, and that’s how he was when, for all too brief a moment last season, he turned the Timberwolves into the most exciting team in the NBA.
