Deals: Thanksgiving eve

Be thankful for these pre-Turkey Day bar specials.

An old man plays the squeezebox at Northeast Social Club.

Sure, Thanksgiving is about spending time with family, football (props, NFL branding suits) and eating your body weight in mashed potatoes. But let’s also give thanks for a sweet midweek bar night. Celebrate Thanksgiving eve with these bar specials.

Acadia Cafe
329 Cedar Av., Mpls. 612-874-8702
On Wednesday nights this West Bank beer bar shaves its tap prices like a gallinaceous game bird (that’s pretentious for turkey). From 10 p.m. until close take a buck off anything on its extensive tap list, or save $4 by going the pitcher route. We love cheap, strong beer as much as the next guy, but go easy to avoid the hump-day hangover and your family’s judgmental glances.

Northeast Social Club
359 13th Av. NE, Mpls. 612-877-8111
For a laid-back late-night happy hour, head to this Nordeast haunt from 9-11 p.m. During its Monday through Thursday “social hour” (also 4-6 p.m.) enjoy $3 taps and $3-$5 bits, or prep your palate for a turkey day wine fest with half-priced bottles of vino. The Northeast Social is a perfect place to unwind before a day of holiday familial drama.

Devil’s Advocate
89 S. 10th St., Mpls. 612-843-2260
Before getting your gravy-soaked gorge on, consider getting your gut into game shape. This downtown Minneapolis meatball joint seems a fitting place to do so, especially with $3-$7 apps, $3 rails and house wines, and $3-$5 select taps from 10 p.m.-midnight (and 3-7 p.m.) daily. Again, use caution, late-night warriors, lest ye prematurely blow it (your appetite, that is) like it’s high school all over (because, you know, high schoolers eat a lot).
