Followers of local fashion, start marking your calendars. Today, the lineup for this spring's Minneapolis-St. Paul Fashion Week has been announced, and while there are no blockbuster events like Voltage: Fashion Amplified or Envision: Artopia (which is slated for later this spring), there are some solid entries.
Most notable among the offerings are returning favorites Samantha Rei, Kimberly Jurek and Christopher Straub (Feb. 21 & 22), the first collection showings from cult darlings Max Lohrbach and Ivan Idland since spring 2011 (Feb. 21), and the "Red Dress Collection" (Feb. 17), a benefit for the Women’s Heart Clinic at the University of Minnesota Physicians Heart: Women’s Heart Program at Fairview that features red dressed by local talent including Emma Berg, Adrienne Yancy and Laura Fulk. Additional events include an emerging designers showcase (Feb. 18), the University of Minnesota's annual student show (Feb. 16) and benefit show Styles for Smiles (Feb. 16), plus a fashion-themed Third Thursday at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts featuring fashions from local vintage and resale shops (Feb. 21).
Berg will also preview her fall 2013 collection to be shown later this spring at an event in conjuction with a men's fashion show by Highcroft and Merch (Feb. 20). Visit mnfashion.org for a full schedule and tickets.
