Sara Johannes of airport restaurant Shoyu competes for gastro TV gold in the Bravo show's new season.

A local chef has landed a spot in the new season of Bravo’s popular “Top Chef” series, which premieres tonight at 9 p.m. Sara Johannes, kitchen queen at Shoyu in Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, will compete among 18 contestants during the gastro reality show’s 11th season in New Orleans.

Prior to her executive chef gig at the MSP sushi and modern Japanese restaurant, Johannes studied culinary arts at St. Paul College and worked at restaurants in Dallas and L.A. While frequent fliers might recognize her raw fish skills, we’ll see how she handles gator, frog or turtle meat in tonight's episode.
