BoneYard to open next week in Uptown

The Crave owners are bringing Southern fare, beer and bourbon to Uptown.

Kaskaid Hospitality, the parent company of the Crave restaurants, Union and others has pegged an opening date for its new Uptown venture. After a run of soft openings and a private event next Thursday, the Southern-focused BoneYard Kitchen & Bar officially fires up its fryers on March 7 in the former Old Chicago space on Hennepin Avenue.

At a glance, the dinner menu – with Confederate state favorites including fried chicken, crab hush puppies and shrimp and grits – seems to pass the Paula Dean test (minus the racism, thank you). Drinks wise, the Cravers’ new concept emphasizes beer and bourbon, a noble formula that helped make Butcher & the Boar a hit two miles up the road.

It sounds like fans of the OC’s old patio need not worry. The patio area’s been expanded and converted into a three-season space with retractable walls and awnings (we know how those Kaskaid guys love retractability).

BoneYard’s hours:
Monday-Wednesday 11 a.m. to midnight
Thursday-Friday 11 a.m. to 2 a.m.
Saturday 9 a.m. to 2 a.m.
Sunday 9 a.m. to midnight
