British buzz boy James Blake seems like the love child of Antony Hegarty and Brian Eno — only with better hair. In May, he played the quietest show in the history of 7th Street Entry. His electronic soul sound had either a certain stillness or a machine-generated bass that might have invited people to dance if it wasn’t all so precious. The reaction of the fans was louder than the music. Now the 22-year-old’s popularity, if not his sound, demands that he graduate to a bigger club.
