Amadou & Mariam

They’ve opened for U2 and the Scissor Sisters, performed at Coachella and Glastonbury, recorded with K’Naan and Damon Albarn. Now, eight years after being introduced to the world by world-music star Manu Chao, Amadou and Mariam will make their Twin Cities debut. The blind husband-and-wife duo hail from Mali but now call Paris home. They specialize in a kind of Malian folk-blues but they’re not afraid to expand their horizons. On this year’s “Folila,” they collaborated with Santigold and members of TV on the Radio, Antibalis, Scissors Sisters and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs to produce ear-opening cross-cultural excitement.
