Roy Hargrove
Grammy-winning trumpeter Roy Hargrove hasn't recorded in a few years, unless you count guest shots on CDs by singers Angelique Kidjo and Cyrille Aimee. But he always brings a terrific band out on tour, and this visit's no exception. His longtime frontline partner Justin Robinson is back on alto sax. Scintillating St. Louis drummer Montez Coleman anchors the new quintet. On piano is Sullivan Fortner, a New Orleans native and favorite of listeners at that city's best-known jazz bar, Snug Harbor. Ameen Saleem, on acoustic bass, rounds out the band. Tom Surowicz
