Electric Guest

Electric Guest has a lot of friends in high places. Omnipresent producer Danger Mouse helped steer the spacey Los Angeles pop duo’s May-released debut for Downtown Records, “Mondo,” and singer Asa Taccone helped create some of his brother Jorma’s many musical projects with Andy Samberg for “Saturday Night Live.” That’s right, dude had a hand in “Dick in a Box.” That may help explain Pitchfork’s laughing review of “Mondo” (4.6 rating), but at least the Motown-copping, falsetto-laden single “This Head I Hold” has been taken seriously at 89.3 the Current and other hip outlets.
