Passion Pit
In contrast to all the chirpy melodies, synth sparkles and white-boy R&B falsetto, Passion Pit’s sophomore album, “Gossamer,” is way darker than its bubble-blowing facade. Thematically, the Massachusetts dance-rock quintet’s follow-up to 2009’s “Manners” finds bipolar main man Michael Angelakos dealing with alcoholism, hospital stints and suicidal thoughts.
