Perhaps in no genre other than heavy metal could a satirical cartoon band crossover into legitimate artistic success. But in all fairness, the quartet behind the illustrated protagonists in Adult Swim’s “Metalocalypse” kinda shred. Helmed by the show’s co-producer, co-writer and voice actor Brendon Small, the real world Dethklok just dropped its third full-length helping of melodic death metal. Bay Area thrash/groove bastions Machine Head, which has a live disc due this week, and Detroit deathcore act Black Dahlia Murder open. Michael Rietmulder
