Os Mutantes
Os Mutantes return, fresh off their appearance in Rolling Stone’s list of the 10 greatest Latin Rock albums of all time, with their wild 1968 eponymous masterpiece. The Tropicalia-flavored Brazilian garage-rock band has gone through many eras and transformations, but it never lost that record’s psychedelic coating. After developing a cultish fan base that included David Byrne and Kurt Cobain during an extended hiatus in the ’80s and ’90s, co-founding singer/guitarist Sérgio Dias Baptista rebirthed the band in 2006 and has made a handful of charmingly exotic new albums.
