Tame Impala - SOLD OUT
One of the buzziest club shows so far this year, Tame Impala’s sold-out headliner appearance forecasts a festival season already loaded with Sasquatch and Bonnaroo appearances. The psychedelic quartet from Perth, Australia, sounds heavily influenced by the Beatles’ “Revolver” album and somewhat akin to fellow Aussies the Easybeats, never mind that those guys could be their grandpas. Their slow-chugging single “Elephant” has been a staple on the Current’s playlist of late, and there’s plenty more fiery and richly textured songs on last year’s sophomore effort “Lonerism,” which became the first album from Down Under to top NME’s year-end album poll. Another Western Australian band, the Growl, opens. Chris Riemenschneider
