We Minnesotans are a proud people, quick to puff up our chests regarding our foolhardy tolerance of blistering weather, our bike-friendly cities or the success of our sports franchises (kidding). As of late, our up-and-coming beer community is another thing we lake-loving folk can hang our hats on. Here's to these bars for making it a little cheaper to drink local!

Psycho Suzi's

1900 Marshall Av. NE., Mpls. • 612-788-9069 • www.psychosuzis.com

There's nothing kitschy about the Nordeast tiki tavern's Neighborhood Nation special on Tuesday nights. Take taps from microbrew mavens Summit, Surly, Fulton or Brau Brothers for $4 from 10 p.m. till close. The massive islander sculptures on the patio don't exactly scream Minnesota, but just roll with it.

Stub and Herb's

227 SE. Oak St., Mpls. • 612-379-0555 • www. stubandherbsbar.com

Unlike the Gophers' football team, this Stadium Village saloon gives 'Sota-bred suds fans something to cheer about. Wednesdays from 8 p.m. to midnight, pitchers of any Minnesota-made beer are half-price. A standing ovation might be a bit awkward, so how about leaving a generous tip instead?

Roat Osha

2650 Hennepin Av. S., Mpls. • 612-377-4418 • www.roatoshathai.com

You might not think a Thai restaurant would be likely to sling local beers on the cheap, but this underrated happy hour hangout does just that. Every Wednesday, Surly taps go for just $3.50 all day. Dubious connections be damned, we're all about saving on Surly.
