Election Night offers a barometer of the people's political will and a glimpse at government policies to come. But it also makes for a fun bar night. Since cheap hooch is as American as campaign mudslinging, we recommend getting your post-polling glug on this Tuesday with these specials.

Pat's Tap

3510 Nicollet Av. S., Mpls. • 612-822-8216 •

Quench your thirst for minute-by-minute election coverage, and beer, at this south Minneapolis watering hole. Simultaneously drool over CNN mega-hunk Wolf Blitzer's (Anderson who?) riveting commentary/wicked beard and $3 Bell's taps all night as the results pour in. Sister restaurant Bryant-Lake Bowl offers the same deal during its own ballot-watching bash.

Brit's Pub

1110 Nicollet Mall, Mpls. • 612-332-3908 •

No hard feelings over the revolution -- this British pub is throwing an election party with $4 Summits starting at 7:30 p.m. Keep tabs on the tallying via the big screens in Brit's clubhouse, with Cosgrove Trivia breaking up the wonkish banter. Will barstool punditry result in a Parliament-style shoutfest? We hope so, as long as everybody makes up over $4 select pints and wines and $7 Brit's Bootlegs from 10 p.m. to midnight.

The Gay 90's

408 Hennepin Av. S., Mpls. • 612-333-7755 •

After months of attack ads, the American people deserve a few drinks. The 90's serves domestic beers and rail drinks at a two-for-one clip from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Tuesdays (and Mondays), with performances from the Diamond Divas. Depending on the fate of the marriage amendment, the 90's could be one of the liveliest spots in town or, you know, a major drag.
