At these bars, it's still possible to score a beer for pennies.

New Bohemia Wurst & BierHaus

While it’s convenient to drop your change into the checkout charity jar, did you know you could turn those pennies into pints? At some bars it’s still possible to score a beer for less than a buck. So, screw helping your fellow man and parlay that loose change into a brew.

New Bohemia

233 E. Hennepin Av., Mpls. • 612-331-4929 •

This Northeast beer and sausage shack is all about a bargain on Tuesdays. Slide in from 5-5:30 p.m. and grab Goose Island taps for only 10 cents. It’s no wonder this dime of a deal only lasts 30 minutes, as it might be the cheapest drink in town.

Liquor Lyle’s

2021 Hennepin Av. S., Mpls. • 612-870-8183 •

In honor of Lyle’s 50th anniversary of barhood, the windowless hooch haven is offering 50-cent beers for 50 days. Now until Sept. 30, Miller Lite and High Life taps are a half-buck between 8 and 9 p.m. For those stuck on Lyle’s two-for-ones, bust out a Sacagawea coin for the same effect.

Campus Pizza

825 Washington Av. SE., Mpls. • 612-378-2417 •

The U of M is still on summer break, but this Stadium Village pizza joint holds its “study group” every Friday. Campus Pizza offers A-plus deals from 2-6 p.m. — chiefly 75-cent domestic taps. Happy hour overachievers might also be interested in $2 shots of the week, $4 bomb shots and half-price apps with booze purchase.
