Deals: Watch the Wild playoffs at the bar

MICHAEL RIETMULDER | Updated 4/28/2014

Watch Game 6 of the Wild-Avalanche playoff series at one of these three bars.

Minnesota Wild center Mikael Granlund (64) nudged in the winning goal past Colorado Avalanche goalie Semyon Varlamov (1) while falling over in front of the crease.

The State of Hockey is enraptured by the Wild’s first-round playoff bout with the Colorado Avalanche, and if you can’t make it to Monday’s 8 p.m. Game 6 at Xcel Energy Center, watching at the bar is the next best thing. We don’t all have Zach Parise money, so save some coin at these watering holes.

Uptown Tavern

1400 Lagoon Av., Mpls. • 612-824-3333 • www.

This Uptown beer and bro bar is littered with TVs, including a monster rooftop projection screen. Bask in the glow of televised sports while reaping the progressive Thursday night specials. From 7-9 p.m. domestic bottles, rail and call drinks are only a buck, rising to a more-than-manageable $2 from 9-11 p.m. and $3 between 11 p.m. and 1 a.m.

Billy’s on Grand

857 Grand Av., St. Paul • 651-292-9140 • www.

With $4 Jag bombs and Absolut you-call-its from 8 p.m. to close, drinking like a meathead ain’t expensive Thursday nights at this St. Paul sports/college bar. Otherwise, a $4 Founders special throughout April is a thrifty craft beer option, which could also come in handy during Saturday’s Game 5 (8:30 p.m.).

The Green Mill

1342 Grand Av., St. Paul • 651-698-0353 •

If its daily 9 p.m.-to-close happy hour with dollar-off taps and house wines and more isn’t enough, cheer on the Wild at this pizza chain’s flagship location with $4 Long Islands on Thursday. Circle back Saturday and score a free bottle of wine with the purchase of two pasta entrees. Nothing says romance like spaghetti-stained hockey jerseys and watching toothless Canadians get chippy.
