Vampire Weekend covers Rancid Indie rock fans had a collective WTF moment yesterday when blog Abeano Music posted an MP3 of Vampire Weekend's cerebral take on Rancid's 1995 pop-punk classic "Ruby Soho." Link: http://www.abeano.com/blog/new-vampire-weekend-ruby-soho-rancid-cover-and-minimix The heavily buzzed-about neo-Afro-poppers yank the fangs from the original, but the spacey cover is a nostalgic treat. My City vs. Your City This site is interesting, it uses last.fm data to compare what people are listening to in different cities and gives the two a compatibility rating. It would appear as though Minneapolis has music tastes that are much more similar to Atlanta than Las Vegas. [...] |

Other artists he's covering on the album include Regina Spektor, Magnetic Fields, and Arcade Fire. [Personal opinion on the Arcade Fire cover? [...] |

| If you had attended the "burlesk" festival and then gone out to a modern strip club, I can guarantee you would had two wildly different experiences in terms of the sexuality on display, the talent level, the sexual and financial politics, and your overall enjoyment. You say "stripper" like it's a bad thing, but the neo-burlesque performers (which include a couple men) are quite another phenomenon. We can argue about roller derby later. [...] |

No one really cares about the derby, it's just scantily clad chicks putting on a show for the guys. Sure most of the girls are kind of punk. [...] |
| Hey a stripper is a stripper, what's the difference, other than a few small technicalities. I always love how those with money distinguish what they do from those with little. How many men in the show strip? [...] |
