EL VEZ MEX-MAS!

8 p.m. • First Avenue • 18-plus • $15

Because there's no such thing is too much holiday gimmickry (well ... ), the already-shticky Mexican-American Elvis knockoff El Vez comfortably gets into the Christmas spirit with his yuletide parody pageant. Bolstered by backup dancers the Elvettes and his band the Memphis Mariachis, Robert Lopez (aka El Vez) brandishes crooner cheese with his originals and holiday covers redone with Latino-tailored lyrics (see "Poncho Claus" and "Brown Christmas"). If nothing else, the former guitarist of '70s punk band the Zeros offers a rockabilly alternative to Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Locals Buffalo Moon open. MICHAEL RIETMULDER
