Lauren Conrad for Kohl's

Lauren Conrad's collection for Kohl's has begun to trickle into stores. The collection, Kohl's second foray into high design after Simply Vera by Vera Wang, was co-designed by Kohl's head designer (and current "Project Runway" contestant) Ra'mon-Lawrence Coleman. The pieces that feature painterly prints are the standouts in the layerable 14-piece collection, although the flowy rayon tops are fairly basic for $34. ($30-$60, available at Kohl's stores and www.kohls.com)

BlackBlue opens

Yet another boutique is now open in St. Paul's Selby/Snelling area, making it a veritable shopping district. BlackBlue, an edgy shop carrying men's and women's clothing and accessories, quietly opened a couple of weeks ago; a grand opening is planned for October. The shop will also consign art and serve as a design studio. (614 Selby Av., St. Paul. www.blkblu.com)
