The circus-inspired looks, spotted at the Rock & Roll Circus at the Music Box Theatre, were also wearable on the street.

Nathan Strandberg

33, graphic designer

What are you wearing? Neff beanie, Modern Amusement tweed coat, Heritage plaid shirt, Levi's 510 jeans, Merona Rhett Wingtip shoes.

If you could join the circus, what would you be? A hobo clown.

Best advice for pushing the fashion envelope: Don't get caught up in brands.

Did you get any fashion inspiration from the event? I realized I really need a top hat and cane.

Lili Jackson

28, woodworker

What are you wearing? A dress from Forever 21; vintage leather gloves found in Joshua Tree, Calif.; boots by Armani.

At what age did you nail down your personal style? I've always liked dressing up.

If you could join the circus, what would you be? As a child my mom would read me "The Runaway Bunny," and the illustrations of the tightrope walkers almost have me convinced.

Best advice for pushing the fashion envelope: Seriously, just stop caring!

Clare Andre

22, University of Minnesota student

What are you wearing? Dress from Akira in Chicago, heels from Nina Shoes.

If you could join the circus, what would you be? A flying trapeze artist.

Best advice for pushing the fashion envelope: Fun tights. Mixing patterns and textures.

Did you get any fashion inspiration from the event? Yes, I must invest in a ravishing headpiece.

Joanie Rich

29, arts sales rep

What are you wearing? Dress from Tatters, vintage cardigan and shoes.

At what age did you nail down your personal style? 14. I started wearing vintage dresses and got my style from watching '60s B-movies and other classics.

If you could join the circus, what would you be? A magician's assistant.

Best advice for pushing the fashion envelope: Be creative and love what you're wearing.
