The Twin Cities area offers many ways to celebrate the Mexican version of Halloween, Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead. The biggest celebration happens in St. Paul's District Del Sol; it features a Day of the Little Angels ceremony on Friday and a sugar skull making class, a tour of ofrendas (offerings made for the deceased) and a traditional procession and ceremony on Saturday. (Day of the Little Angels: 7 p.m. Fri. Procession & ceremony: 6 p.m. Sat. Free. El Rio Recreation Center, 179 E. Robie St., St. Paul. 651-222-6347.)

Elsewhere, local puppet theater In the Heart of the Beast puts on a family-friendly, bilingual Day of the Dead Puppet Show.

Northeast art gallery Altered Esthetics holds a one-day art show and candlelit procession. (Art at 1 p.m. Mon., procession at 8 p.m. Mon. Free. 1224 NE. Quincy St., Mpls. 612-378-8888.)

Latino community organization Centro offers a traditional tour of altars now through Nov. 6. (Noon-6 p.m. daily. Free. 1915 Chicago Av. S., Mpls. 612-874-1412.)

And continuing through Nov. 15 is the Young People's Ofrenda Project put on by the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, an exhibition featuring ofrendas created by students. (Free. 2400 3rd Av. S., Mpls., 612-870-3131.)
