'Xanadu'

You have one more month to enjoy this summery bonbon at Chanhassen Dinner Theatres. Many people still turn up their nose at the mention of "Xanadu," assuming that it must be like the cheesy 1980 movie. But the musical, which surprised Broadway audiences five years ago, actually has your back: It makes fun of the movie. Jodi Carmeli plays a Greek goddess who inspires a young artist (Dieter Bierbrauer) to pursue his dream of opening a roller disco. How is that anything other than a spoof? The stage musical retains music by Electric Light Orchestra, and director Michael Brindisi's Chanhassen production looks great. (6 p.m. dinner/8 p.m. show Thu.-Fri.; 11 a.m./1 p.m. & 6/8 p.m. Sat.; 4:30/6:30 p.m. Sun.; 6/8 p.m. Tue.; 11 a.m./1 p.m. & 6/8 p.m. Wed. $46 [show only] to $81. Ends Sept. 29.
