Bacon baby!
posted by seriousfunmpls on Jul. 27, '09 at 12:53 PM

I had my first breakfast at the Triple Rock and came away very full and quite pleased. Quite cheap concidering the amount of food you get! The service is super-friendly and fast. discounted nachos with great cheese sauce and better fresh salsa. They have recently expanded their menu to over twice the size with some delightful food.   Rating: ***

Punx Unite was horrible

The triple rock is by far my favorite Minneapolis venue, i have been going there since i was 15. And now that i am 21 it is also my favorite bar. It's true that it is generally considered a punk venue, but they have been known to throw a crazy dre day bash, and who can deny free bacon Wednesdays?! Their sound is superior, the staff is cool and they have a day of the week for free bacon. Why aren't you there right now?   Rating: *****

I haven't been here in awhile. I think I saw MU330 here last...yeah it's been awhile. I love the 'closeness' of this venue...and the food is pretty good!   Rating: ****

Great Live Music Venue
posted by jscheeler7 on Apr. 4, '09 at 8:34 AM

I was able to catch the Eyedea and Abilities reunion show here last year and, I must say, it is one of the best live music venues in Minneap. Good sight lines, even for the short I imagine. The sound setup is above average and you don't have any hulking goons shoving you around and trying to intimidate.

The bar side gets a little cramped during shows, but on a regular night that isn't a problem. Bell's Two-Heart on tap and usually a good cast of characters to share tales of life's woes. A cornerstone of the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood and just a short jaunt up the street to The Nomad.

The night of the E&A show, we were able to catch POS and Mel Gibson and the Pants throwing down at the Nomad just afterward, making for a great night of drinking and live music. Don't take it for granted folks, we've got a great music scene here.   Rating: ****

every concert ive been to at this venue has been absolutely amazing, i love the close up feeling you get with the band becasue its such a small place, and i just love the whole set up, its just great :] I wish more bands i liked played there.

I liked this place...

before the mullet accused me of stealing my own dollar off the table and bouncer sent me to the curb. The place is great if the owner Erik Funk is running the bar, but when he's missing from the scene, the service falls flat. I agree with booder's "fashion scene" observation as well. One shouldn't have to punk oneself up to go have a frosty beer.

Can I Get A Star Shaped Egg On My Toast Please?

Go here for brunch. Trust me. Order anything, it'll be good! Especially the bloody marys. It's a fun place to go on a Sunday morning whether you're just having some food or boozing your afternoon away. The jukebox is top notch and, while I have yet to see a show here (I know, I'm dumb) I hear great things about it as a concert venue.   Rating: ****

ID Check's
posted by booders2311 on Mar. 29, '07 at 3:49 PM

I like that i can leave my ID home when i come here. But sometimes it gets to be a little more like a "fashion show" , then a laid-back comfortable place to hang out...well, if you go in the daytime you can get that feel a little more, i just suggest, if you are looking for this same "laid back" feel, stay away from Tuesday nights...

Punx Unite!

Ok. So this isn't a punk-exclusive venue, but that's not to say it isn't a rallying point for misfits and misguided youth. Featuring the best of TC's underground music scene as well as hosting national acts from similar backgrounds, the Triple Rock is the perfect venue for a one-on-one confrontation with your favorite band. The stage is only three feet tall, there's no barrier, no security, an a quality sound system. This one's a no brainer.   Rating: *****
