I realized I never reviewed First Ave. before..... but then I also decided it was because I had no need too. We all know its great. I love the variety of performers they have at first ave. I also think...I've been to serveral venues down in florida and back in my original home in NY...but what's special about First Ave. is the culture, the closeness, the location in the city, and the history. Last time I was there I was standing on the 2nd floor with a drink and was talking to some other fans of the venue. We all agreed we felt like we could actually SEE the performance and feel like we were a part of it. That makes it great. Rating: ****

i saw my first show there in middle school!
i saw my favorite show there
i spend most of my saturday nights dancing my booty off there

definitely my favorite place in minneapolis

I realize that's rather heretical to say. So I'll also get it all out of the way and also say - I hate prince. there. But, seriously, half the time it either seems to big or too small. the bars are hard to get to, and it sucks to be up in the balcony. the only reason before was smoking, and even then it blew.

I love love love love First Ave! The drinks are strong, the music is good and for the most part, people aren't affraid to dance there.

Service has always been great, the sound is good and did I mention the people that work there ROCK! Rating: *****

The best place to catch good live local and national hip hop acts. Save the Rap B.S. for the Foundation and The Myth. Expensive drinks, but like the guy below says: pre-party or catch one of the many happy hours at the multitude of other bars in the area. A great place to experience live music and pee in a trough. Rating: *****

If i were to be rating this venue based on all the great acts ive had the opportunity to see, it would get the highest rating. i remember going every friday and sat. oh, and club 241.. but now, i cant remember the last time i was actually there. i think for Toots and the Maytals bout 2yrs or so ago...oh, and who could forget Purple Rain?...i wish it were still liek that at first ave!!..THAT would rock!..
