Acadia Café venue

Capsule review: At this laid-back coffeehouse, expect to find an ambitious live-music schedule (performed in an adjacent music room), a nicely retro setting and inexpensive fare that effortlessly swings from breakfast (burritos, oatmeal, waffles) to dinner (black-bean burger, smoked trout salad, aoili/three-cheese grilled sandwich). Beyond coffee, there's an impressive beer selection (including 24 tap choices, from Bell's Oberon Ale to Frostop root beer) and more than a dozen affordable wines by the glass.

Love the 1/2 price apps and beer selection! A Scrabble game was the right excuse to spend a couple of hours at this place.

Had a nice reuben at the new location. The music was too loud however, so this is not a place for a conversation when it is being used for a venue. The beer selection was a nice suprise. I had an excellent foreign pale ale.

Two thumbs up, but not way up.   Rating: ***

Still good in the new location

I have to recommend their Reuben sandwich and they've got a great beer selection. They do Beer Flights so you can try out some at the higher end and find your favorite. If you spend a few bucks, they validate parking in the lot behind it, but not in the ramp.

They've changed the seating/stage situation over the summer and it's a great improvement. I really wish it was still in my neighborhood, but that's my only problem with the place.

NOTE: All of the pictures on vita.mn related to this entry was taken at their previous location, so don't get confused if you go and it doesn't look like this. ;-)   Rating: ****

I've never had bad service, bad beer or a bad time at Acadia. It's the bar/cafe I would create if I ever wanted to create a bar/cafe.

1); Good food
2). Good and cheap beer selection
3). This "it's cool here if you just want to drink a beer and read in a booth by yourself" vibe
4). Friendly staff
5). No TVs.   Rating: *****

Great Beer Selection!

Acadia is one of my favourite places to stop by after a long day at the office. They have a great line-up of local music virtually every night of the week, so that's always a good way to unwind. The best part about Acadia is the wide selection of beer. Definitely check out the Ertvelds Wit and the Cain & Ebel Rye Beer that they have on tap.   Rating: ****

Acadia is a great spot for a drink or a bite if you're in the Cedar/Riverside area. We stopped in before a Fringe show and ordered the hummus appetizer and it was delicious. I only wish we planned ahead and had enough time for a full meal and some beers! They have a huge selection, including many local beers on tap.   Rating: ****

any of the hot sandwiches are really good, great place to hang out with a drink or coffee, and they have good drink specials too- cheap but decent bottles of wine. The servers are really nice, but it can take slightly longer than usual to get your food if you're a big group.

New venue in Acadia's old spot

Cafe Oliver is opening in the next few weeks in the old spot of the Acadia (1931 Nicollet). The concept will be similar to the Acadia, serving light breakfast, lunch and dinner. It will be opened 6am-1am daily and will serve both beer and wine. Cafe Oliver will also host live music as the Acadia did but the wall seperating the theater space from the cafe area will be removed and the stage will be relocated.

Acadia's New Home

Acadia has moved to a new location, at Cedar and Riverside.

329 Cedar Ave. S.
Minneapolis, MN 55454

The performance area (which used to be a seperate section) is now integrated into the cafe, making it less formal / more intimate. They have just started booking their eclectic mix of live music.

They still have the great selection of drinks. Caffeine or Alcohol, depending on which way you are going. Breakfast served all day, for those of us who wake up long after McDonalds has shifted to their dinner menu. I recommend the breakfast burrito.

Ted does all their booking (might be the owner, not sure), and is a great guy, really into local music. I don't know if he still does this, but he used to accept CDs from local bands and load the songs into their jukebox which is set to random.

Nice place with good food and drinks and cool live music.   Rating: *****

Great Venue

Acadia is a coffee / sandwich shop just like any other, what really sets it apart is the venue on the other side of the shop. The Acadia specializes in interesting, up and coming music, some theater and spoken word.

Awesome food

This is one of my fav spots for lunch/dinner... The club sandwich is awesome and the spicy chicken quesadilla is amazing. Also if you're in search of an interesting/different beer, they've got plenty... As well as root beer floats and such for those sober moments.   Rating: ****
